Senses and perception

Every time we perceive something with our five senses that perception will immediately be pleasant or unpleasant for us. This is an automatic and unavoidable biological reaction we can't control or delay. But in our practice we can use the word "only" to put things into perspective. Because a loud sound outside which seems to distract us from our concentration is really only (!) an unpleasant sound - and nothing more! Our mind normally wants to make more of it but it's up to us to allow that or not. Every sense perception is ONLY pleasant or unpleasant, nothing more. There is a huge potential of freedom in this extremely simple but profound practice.
